Pastors and those visiting shut-ins, etc. have expressed their desire to have something more meaningful and helpful – than flowers or a book – to leave with the people they were visiting. We had just produced a hymn sing-a-long CD in the pattern of Mitch Miller and a quiet CD of hymns played on the piano and organ that gave great comfort to those who were lonely or sick.
Working with those pastors and chaplains, we designed and are developing a Comfort Card®. These will be a series of DVDs inserted into a beautiful Greeting Card. The DVD will be an hour or so of beautiful scenes of God’s creation. The scenes will be long enough for the viewer to really enjoy them. In themselves they will bring comfort and peace. (It will be exactly the opposite of music videos.) The video will be accompanied by several different sound tracks that the view can choose to meet their need of the moment. There will be the soft playing of old favorite hymns. There will be another track of the best of praise songs. There will be a track of verses from the Bible that bring comfort and assurance – read with the quiet hymns background. And we’re thinking of adding a track of beautiful instrumental and vocal solos of favorite Christian songs.
